raised predominantly in essex, uk, ben fisher was born on the floor of abbey road studio’s famed studio two, where his dad worked as a session drummer. growing up within that environment it was inevitable that ben would one day become a musician himself. after initially tinkering on the drum-kit, he began learning to play the guitar at the age of ten and playing live shows a couple of years later, sitting in with anyone who would have him and not much has changed on that note.

over the years that have followed, ben has become somewhat of a musical vagabond, plying his trade with anything that sparks his interest, gaining vast experience playing, recording and writing with many bands and other musicians along the way and, in doing so, has found himself involved amongst a myriad of different musical situations (including a short stint blowing the longhorn in the sSwiss alps for little more than chocolates and handshakes). The eclecticism is something he thrives on.

a sample list of some the people ben has worked with includes - paul olsen and mike mattison (scrapomatic, derek trucks band, susan tedeschi band) .. kristina train .. mickey gallagher (the tnimals, the clash, paul mccartney, the blockheads) .. mick clarke (the rubettes) .. grant tarbard (the screech owl) .. canadian bluesman chris antonik .. joe hymas (hayseed dixie, the waggon tales) .. bob collum & the welfare mothers .. ben somers (muse, maylor swift, seal, dizzee rascal) .. kidnap alice .. dave yoke (dr. john) ….

ben is a respected and accomplished songwriter and session musician, noted for his thoughtful lyrics and tasteful approach to his playing. he’s also a published poet.

he co-wrote the scrapomatic song ‘killing yourself on purpose’, found on their acclaimed 2008 album ‘sidewalk caesars’ and also a dvd featuring the allman brothers band called the jamcam chronicles - wanee 2007. he also co-wrote half the songs, including the title track, featured on chris antonik’s album ‘better for you’, which was hailed by critics as “a masterpiece.” and “the best canadian blues-rock album of 2013”. ben also boasts 6 credits to his name on antonik’s following 2017 release ‘monarch’, with reviews claiming it to be "definitely chris antonik’s best release to date.” and “a classic modern blues album made with wisdom and style.”. In addition to reaching #1 in canada for radio play, ‘monarch’ also garnered ben with a nomination for ‘best songwriter’ at the renowned maple blues awards and saw him join chris on his two week sell out tour of the uk.

currently ben can mainly be found in and around europe with his own roots/americana outfit jenny wren and her borrowed wings. a female fronted acoustic trio, playing all original music and their own brand of acoustic rhythm & blues. notable appearances thus far have been headlining the fête de la musique at chateaux de chambord (fr), ludwigsburg palace (de) wolfsburg autostadt in association with volkswagen (de), securing a monthly residency at the renowned ain’t nothin’ but..blues bar (uk) and being a featured artist on paul jones’ bbc radio show on two occasions. to date they have released two albums - dead man’s hat (2014) and a soup (2016), with work on their third beginning in early 2019.
